15-16 JULY 2023 We made the trek to Brisbane to attend the National Cat Show. The "Nationals" are considered the premier (and largest) cat show in Australia. In essence, its a "who's who" of the cat breeding world.
Ragdolls, being a popular breed are well represented usually, about 50% of the long hair section. This year, there were about 40 kittens in the long hair section, with 20 of them being Ragdoll kittens.
Our boy, Reverence Wishlist, representEd Reverence Ragdoll Cattery. In the kitten section. Over the two days of judging under 5 international judges and 2 Australian judges, Wishlist achieved 2 x 2nd Best Ragdoll Kitten, 2 x 3rd Best Ragdoll Kitten, and 1 x 5th Best Ragdoll kitten. (Unfortunately we were outgunned by a Sydney Breeder who won Best Ragdoll Kitten in 6/7 rings). Wishlist placed in the Top 12 Longhair Kittens under all 5 judges.
Great Results for a kitten that had only attended one show prior and was a little overwhelmed, never having met another human apart from myself and my vet!
Our desexed boy, Reverence Connor is a kitten that was born in September 2022. When he remained "unsold" in March of this year, I decided to show him for a bit of fun. Connor doesn't particularly like the show bench, so perhaps it's more my idea of fun than his :). At his first Show, The Birman Ragdoll and Associated Breeds Show held in May 2-23, Connor bested 21 Ragdoll kittens to win Best Ragdoll Kitten under esteemed international Cat Judge, Kit Fung. He went on to be awarded 2nd Best Longhair Kitten in Show (out of about 35 kittens).
During the two day Show in Brisbane, his first show as an adult (over 9 months of age) he was awarded Best Ragdoll Desexed Cat twice, and 2nd Best Ragdoll Desexed Cat twice under 4 of the International Judges.
Great Results for a "left over" kitten that no one wanted to buy!
